My Story

Welcome to my personal space on the web. Whether you’ve stumbled upon my site through social media or via a Google search, I’m glad you’re here. My name is Phoenix Adair, a proud Preston native, hailing from the heart of Lancashire in the North-West of England. Born in the twilight of the Thatcher era, I navigated a childhood marked by resilience, as my mother, a single parent, raised three children amidst financial hardships.

My journey through education was a mosaic of experiences, from changing schools to discovering a passion for technology with our first family computer—a Windows 95. Despite academic challenges, particularly in Mathematics and Science, I found my strengths in Technology and Religious Education. A diagnosis of Dyslexia and Dyscalculia in college shed light on my earlier struggles, and later, an understanding of ADHD and Autistic traits provided clarity and context to my life’s narrative.

Adversity struck with the loss of my mother at seventeen, leading to a tumultuous period including domestic violence and homelessness. Yet, it was during this time that I discovered the power of community and technology, securing grant funding for a hostel computer room and volunteering with housing services.

My foray into politics began with a desire to make a tangible difference. Initially a Labour Party member, I found my political home with the Liberal Democrats, where my grassroots campaigning and dedication to local issues earned me a seat in the 2019 elections. A brush with mortality before major surgery in 2021 became a catalyst for spiritual exploration, culminating in my baptism and a newfound faith that has profoundly influenced my worldview.

Today, I serve both as a councillor and a church employee, roles that reflect my commitment to service and personal growth. While I’ve declined the opportunity to become a parliamentary candidate for now, I remain open to future possibilities. My recent ADHD and Autism spectrum diagnosis continues to shape my understanding of self, as I advocate for mental health and support others in their journeys.

This is but a snapshot of my story—a tale of overcoming, evolving, and aspiring to empower others through technology, advocacy, and faith.
